For the Skin on Your Head… That’s Not Your Face – Briogeo: Scalp Revival Review

For the Skin on Your Head… That’s Not Your Face – Briogeo: Scalp Revival Review

The skin on my head is basically the opposite on my face. I have a very dry, (sometimes itchy) flaky scalp that I've been battling with since middle school. Luckily, I may have ran into my holy grail products for my scalp.
The brand Briogeo has finally made something that makes my scalp happy. Part of their "Scalp Revival" line, both the exfoliating shampoo and scalp treatment has calmed my scalp down tremendously. I also have a habit of picking at my scalp compulsively, but because of this I no longer find myself constantly scratching my head or finding tons of flakes all over my shoulders.

I have purchased the Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Shampoo ($42) 4 times now, so I can definitely say this one works. It contains charcoal and coconut oil to detoxify, moisturize, exfoliate, and remove build-up. This product is truly a god-send.

Ingredients (from their website):
Binchotan Charcoal: Detoxifies the scalp and draws out impurities that clog the hair follicle or that cause buildup on the scalp.
Coconut Oil: Moisturizes the scalp to prevent dryness and flakiness
Peppermint, Spearmint, and Tea Tree Oil Complex: Provides a cooling effect to the scalp and reduce itchiness, irritation, and flakiness.
Panthenol: Provides essential nutrients that strengthen the hair root and shaft.

Water, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate*, Cocamidopropyl Betaine*, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate*, Glycerin*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Glyceryl Stearate*, Sodium Methyl Oleoyl Taurate*, Microcrystalline Cellulose*, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Lithium Magnesium Sodium Silicate, Panthenol*, Xylitylglucoside*, Charcoal Powder, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Anhydroxylitol*, Bisabolol*, Menthyl Lactate*, Xylitol*, Polyquaternium-7, Fragrance. *Coconut, vegetable, plant, or sugar derived.

How to Use:
Apply to wet hair and vigorously massage into the scalp and through to the ends. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
It'll feel tingly on your scalp upon application, but don't worry! It's the peppermint and spearmint in action.

I normally shampoo my hair every other day or every 2 days. I use this shampoo about once a week to manage build-up and any scalp irritations. I can't even begin to explain how much this shampoo helped me. The mint extracts has really helped any irritants on my scalp calm down, which helped me scratch my head less. The coconut oil has also helped moisturize my scalp to prevent future flakiness.

And since there's micro-exfoliants in this (plant derived), it's dramatically reduced flakes. I still get a flaky scalp from time to time, especially in the winter, but its very rare that I do now, thanks to this! It also has a great spearmint scent which I find refreshing.

Because I loved this product so much, I decided to purchase the Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment ($32). (A Best of Beauty Award Winner for Allure 2017!)
I bought it a month ago and I use this treatment once a week, after the shampoo and anywhere on my scalp that felt itchy. With this product I no longer have ANY itchiness, at all. It also contains charcoal to detoxify, but it contains my favorite ingredient ever, tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has completely gotten rid of my itchiness! This also contains peppermint and spearmint which gives it great scent.

Ingredients (from their website):
Binchotan Charcoal: Detoxifies the scalp and draws out impurities that clog the hair follicle or that cause buildup on the scalp.
Peppermint, Spearmint, and Tea Tree Oil Complex: Provides a cooling effect to the scalp and reduce itchiness, irritation, and flakiness.
Witch Hazel: Normalizes oil production to prevent oily scalp.
Biotin: Provides essential nutrients to the hair follicle that support healthy hair growth.

Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Glycerin*, Polysorbate 80*, Biotin, Panthenol*, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Charcoal Powder, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Menthyl Lactate*, Saccharide Isomerate*, Sodium Hyaluronate*, Tocopheryl Acetate*, Hydroxyethylcellulose*, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate*, Polyquaternium-10, Aminomethyl Propanol, Citric Acid*, Sodium Citrate*. *Coconut, vegetable, plant, or sugar derived.

It has a dropper for easy application, which I love!

How to Use:
Part the hair into sections, apply one to two drops to each partition, and massage into the scalp.
Do not rinse out.
The treatment should be applied after washing and before styling.
It can also be applied before bedtime as a pre-shampoo scalp treatment.
This is not an oil, but more like a serum. Once you've massaged it in, it'll dry up and won't leave your scalp feeling greasy.

You don't have to purchase both products, but for me, they really go hand in hand. My scalp has never felt happier. I've spent years finding tons of ways to reduce my flakiness and itchiness and I've finally found it.

Taking care of your scalp is equally as important as taking care of your face. This skin on your scalp is also just as sensitive and thin because it hardly gets any sunlight. Not only will your scalp be healthier, taking care of it will also stimulate healthy hair growth and prevent excess hair fall out.

You can find both of these on their website here or at Sephora here.
